DAILY BREAD - THE CHURCH SCHOOL IS COLLECTING JARS OF PASTA SAUCE FOR DAILY BREAD in Putnam throughout September and October. Please pick up a jar when you shop, and help feed the hungry here in our own community. The donation table is located in the Great Room. Thank you so much.

A GIFT FOR THE CONGREGATION: The Junior Youth Group proudly announces the purchase of a beautiful, new gas grill specifically for use here at the church. It is our sincere hope that having this grill will invite more opportunities for fun and fellowship throughout the year. No more having to locate and transport grills to the church for events! This grill will remain at the church year round for everyone's enjoyment. The Senior Youth Group was the first to christen the new grill last Sunday evening when they grilled hamburgers and hot dogs during a special youth rally! Take a moment to stop out back and peek under the grill cover to see another example of how the youth have made a difference here at our church.

Youth Planned Bake Sale: In just a few short weeks, the youth will once again hold an Autumn Bake Sale in conjunction with the Fall Rummage Sale. The bake sale will be held on Friday only, October 9 from 2p-5p. All proceeds will be happily donated to Women's Fellowship. What makes this sale different from other bake sales? Faith. We do not price our items. Instead we ask our customers to give whatever amount they feel comfortable donating. The idea often takes people by surprise! While many people give generously, we have had instances where a smaller donation has enabled someone who otherwise might not have been able to afford a homemade treat to take something special home. Please sign up in the Great Room if you will be able to donate a baked item or two for this event. What should you bake? Brownies, cookies, cupcakes with seasonal sprinkles, apple or pumpkin pie, tea breads, cakes, muffins...you name it! Anything that evokes the flavors and aromas associated with autumn! Be creative. Donations should be clearly labeled and left in the downstairs kitchen prior to the sale. It would be helpful to note if there are nuts in any of the baked goods as this is a frequently asked question. Those youth in grades 5-12 who wish to help out at this event should contact Jennifer John at 974-3489 or email rj3j@charter.net for further information.

CHURCH SCHOOL NEWS:
"Building The Tabernacle" is the first unit of study for the church school children this fall. After the Hebrew people left Egypt, they became nomads, living in the wilderness. Eventually, God told Moses that the people were to build a sanctuary, so God could live among them. It was a tent that they could take with them every time they moved. We will learn about this large moveable tent as a special place to worship God. This morning we will have a group gathering in the downstairs area to introduce our new theme and get acquainted with our new classrooms.
Next Sunday the rotations will begin:
Kitchen Rotation –– Karen Cloutier and Dylan Girardi ––"manna and quail".
Science Rotation –– Laurie Trudeau –– incense making –– NEW ROOM!
Computer Rotation –– Ellie Donahue –– large screen virtual tour of the tabernacle using a power-point projector –– NEW ROOM!
Art Rotation –– Kelly Bottieri –– weaving –– NEW ROOM!

New Classrooms! "I also want them to build a special place where I can live among my people." (Exodus 25:8) The church school wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of the members of our church family for giving us beautiful new classroom space! Like the Tabernacle, it will be our own very special place to worship God –– a place that is quiet; a place that is joyful; a place that is sacred; a place where God is among us. We are grateful for your support and your faith in our vision. There are now so many exciting possibilities for our children on Sunday mornings and beyond! A new path on our spiritual journey begins! Thank you so much!

Junior Choir rehearsals begin next Sunday immediately following church school in the downstairs area of the church. We will kick off the year with ice cream sodas. Thank you Kristen Bentley for offering to bring the ice cream fixin’s. All children are encouraged to come and sing. Our circle is always open!

Lephoi Centre For The Blind –– this year the church school offering will go to the Lephoi Centre For The Blind in Botswana, Africa. This is a Global Ministries Child Sponsorship Program. Please encourage your child to bring a few coins each week so that we can be generous to our two new friends. You will hear more about this program in the coming weeks.
