Family Skating @ UConn. All ages are welcome for a trip to the UConn Rink this afternoon! We will meet at the Hill Church at 4:15 and carpool to Storrs. Speak to Debby Kirk after worship if you would like to attend. The cost is $5 for admission. Skate rental is available for $4. Friends are welcome.
Save the date! Rev. Day McCallister from the CT Conference will be in Woodstock on Sunday, January 31 to outline the plans for GIV², our new outreach program for youth. GIV² (give squared) will provide local service opportunities. Youth, young adults, parents of teens, board of Outreach members and others are invited to meet with us from 5 to 7PM at the Hill Church. A light supper will be served. Please rsvp to Debby Kirk if you plan to attend.
The church school is beginning a new unit this morning called "Jesus Is Baptized". We will discover and recognize that:
~Jesus was baptized as a sign of belonging.
~We participate in the same sacrament.
~The shell and dove are symbols of baptism.
~John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus.
~God’s presence is with us always.

WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP: The meeting of the Women’s Fellowship will take place on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. with lunch to follow. Our program will be the Rev. Susan Foster, Pastor of the East Woodstock Congregational Church, offering "Singing Simple Songs." Susan will conduct a similar workshop at New England Women’s CELEBRATION VIII in Burlington, Vermont in March. Hostesses for the day are Lynn Singleton & Barbara Child with Linda Chase offering Worship. See you there, bring a friend and plan to stay for lunch!
CHURCH WORLD SERVICE: Donations are desperately needed to fill the needed items for the 45 Health Kits we plan to create in February. Remember, these kits are sent by Church World Service when disaster strikes all around the world.

CALL TO THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH
The Annual Meeting of the First Congregational Church of Woodstock (and concurrently of the Children’s Center at the First Congregational Church of Woodstock) is called for Sunday, January 25, 2010, in the meetinghouse of the church with roll call at 11:15 a.m., and the following agenda:
1. To accept the reports of the Pastor, Clerk, Boards and Committees and the Treasurer for the year 2009;
2. To act upon the Report of the Nominating Committee;
3. To receive and act upon Budgets for Local and Wider, for 2010;
4. To remember those of our membership who have died since our last Annual Meeting;
5. To hear the report of the Church Historian;
6. To act upon any other business proper to come before the meeting.
The Order of the Day: at 12:30 p.m. there will be a dinner in the Fellowship Hall. Following dinner, unfinished business will be completed.

Our board of deacons has scheduled a Saturday morning opportunity for members of our church to be in conversation about where we would like to see our church headed in the coming years. This will be a time to continue discussions that will arise at our annual meeting on January 24 concerning our focus, new mission initiatives, and priorities as a church in a new decade. All are invited.
