Announcements and Calendar for the Week of May 29

LECTURES ON REINCARNATION: Bob Kirk will be returning to Palmer Hall in the Woodstock Historical Society Building for a series of three Thursday night lectures on reincarnation early in June. Bob gave these lectures last fall at QVCC as part of their Learning-in-Retirement program, and is now offering them here in town in the evening so friends and neighbors can attend. Bob will examine evidence for reincarnation in his first lecture “Three Compelling Cases” on June 2nd; he will discuss “Karma” on June 9th; and he will conclude the series with “Carol Bowman’s ‘Tour of Heaven’” on June 16th. The lectures will begin at 7:30 p.m., and are free and open to the public.

ROSELAND B&B: Reservations will soon be coming in! Hosts are needed for Oct 14 & 15. Please sign up on the Kiosk in Harrison Hall or see Cheryl Swenson if you have any questions.

COMPASSION CAMP REGISTRATION IS FILLING UP! Pick up a registration form from the SUMMER YOUTH bulletin board downstairs or download from the church website at www.hillchurch.org. This outreach program is for youth who are currently in grades 6-9 and the camp will be held on the week of July 25-29.

-Junior Choir – there will be NO rehearsal this morning.

-Children’s Sunday – June 12th! - We invite EVERYONE to our Children’s Sunday worship service. It will be a joyful celebration of Pentecost! There will be an all church picnic on the common following the service, including hot dogs on the grill and yummy potluck side dishes! Mark your calendars!

-Friday, June 10th - Children’s Sunday rehearsal for grades 1 – 8 from 4:00 – 7:30 p.m. Pizza will be served. Rehearsal/Snack/Fun!

ANNUAL JYG MEMORIAL DAY FUNDRAISER The Junior Youth Group will be selling hot dogs and refreshments out on the front lawn of the church on Memorial Day during the parade. Please stop by and support our youth!

VACATION TIME: Rev. Mike is on vacation until May 31. He will be home on June 1, but not in the office until June 2. . Rev. Sue Foster, (928-7449) and Rev. Brian Baeder, (pastor of the Church of the Good Shepherd, 992-9438, 5/28 & 5/29 only), will cover any emergencies.

BE SURE to buy your Church World Service Father’s Day Cards at Coffee Hour!!! Donation $5.00. Cards are also available in the church office.

WOODSTOCK FAIR CHICKEN BBQ: It’s time to start planning this year’s schedule! Please think about when you might be able to offer your time and sign up in the Great Room! Thank you!

CALLING ALL JUNIOR YOUTH IN GRADES 5-8! We are holding our annual Memorial Day Fundraiser on the church's front lawn tomorrow during the Woodstock Memorial Day Parade. This is always a fun event, but we need YOUR help to make it a funtastic event! We will be grilling up hot dogs to sell along with cool drinks, fresh sliced watermelon and Sweet Evalina's yummy, old fashioned donuts. Plan to arrive at 9am. Bring a friend! There will be plenty of jobs for everyone! We should finish up between 12:30pm - 1pm. Please call 860-974-3489 or reply by email to Jennifer John: rj3j@charter.net.

Announcements and Calendar for the Week of May 22, 2011

CHURCH SCHOOL NEWS:
Families will be worshiping together this morning in this intergenerational service celebrating our musicians of all ages. Church school classes will resume next Sunday.

Junior Choir rehearsal will be held today after the worship service.

Children’s Sunday will be held on June 12th. Our theme will be PENTECOST! We are hoping everyone will WEAR RED to celebrate this special occasion! It promises to be a fun and faith-filled day! An all church picnic will follow on the common, including hot dogs on the grill and potluck side dishes. Please invite your family and friends.

BIKERS UNITE! Next Sunday is our Spring Biking Adventure. We’’ll head out to a flat, scenic trail for a fun ride. This is a great family activity so dust off the bikes, pump up the tires, invite a pal, and meet us at the East Woodstock church after worship.
