Announcements and Calendar for the Week of Oct. 3

SAVE THE DATE!! Our Interim Pastor, Mike Ader, will begin his ministry here on Monday, October 18th. His first worship service with us will be on Oct. 24, and the Deacons will host a special coffee hour afterwards. We hope as many people as possible can be here for that day so we can give him a real Hill Church welcome!!!

SPEAKING OF BEING WELCOMING....we would like to remind everyone to please wear your name tags on Sunday mornings. Especially in this time of transition when there are different ministers leading service, and with the upcoming arrival of Mike Ader, we want to make it easier for new people to get to know us. If you have lost or misplaced your name tag, please sign up in the Great Room so that another one can be made for you. THANK YOU!

THE REV. VIRGINIA CHILD will be leading us in worship on the next two Sundays. She is a familiar face to many - please be sure to come to service!

THE NEXT COUNCIL MEETING has been changed to Tuesday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m.

DIG INTO SERVICE WITH GIV2! Youth in grades 7-12 are invited to our first outreach project after church today. We'll pick fresh produce for local soup kitchens and help with fall clean up at the People's Harvest Garden in Pomfret. Lunch is provided and friends are welcome. Speak to Debby if you would like a ride or meet us at here at 12:15. We will return by 3:30 this afternoon.
STRESS FREE ZONE for high school juniors and seniors. Wednesday, October 6 at the Hill Church from 2:30 to 3:30. Drop in after school to UNWIND with a snack and some conversation. Friends are welcome.
MEALS on WHEELS on Monday, October 11 Youth in grades 9-12-- Put your faith in action and help out with the meal at the Community Kitchen. Meet at the Hill Church at 9:30 am. We'll prepare a hot meal, transport it to North Grosvenordale, visit with the guests, serve lunch at noon and return by 1:30 PM.

Church School Rotation Leader Opportunities! Our next church school rotation unit will begin on November 14th and take us into the Advent season. The unit is for three Sundays only and is entitled, In The Manger. We are seeking volunteers to lead the children in any the following areas: art, music, science, cooking, movies and storytelling.
