Grades 3/4/5 – Cooking Rotation – Cheri Swenson - Kitchen
Grades 6/7/8 – Storytelling – Brittany LaFleur & Emily John – End Classroom

The church school is wrapping up our “In The Manger” rotations this morning. Over the past three weeks, the children have been exploring the significance of the Messiah’s coming, as a baby born in a humble place. Visit our Storytelling room (end classroom) this morning to get a glimpse of the Babe in the manger. This room was beautifully decorated by Brittany LaFleur and Emily John.
In the Science rotation we explored the animals present at Jesus’ birth, and talked about how God wants us to care for and protect our animal friends. In this rotation we prepared pinecone suet/seed feeders. In the kitchen, the children created various types of delicious cookies and edible mangers with Cheri! Thank you Laurie Trudeau, Emily John, Brittany LaFleur, Cheri Swenson, Ellen Boylan and Kassi Miller for your leadership during this rotation!

Once again, this committee thanks you for your generosity. ~Lynn & Tom Singleton, Co-chairs CTC
THANKS seems like such a small word, but it surely covers the feelings of all those who were involved in the planning for CHRISTMAS ON THE HILL So many of you joined the effort----you volunteered your time and your talents! You encouraged your neighbors to come out and enjoy the Fair. Many of you contributed cakes, and antiques and crafted lovely ornaments; you also cooked and served our guestsJ I apologize if I have missed the particular contribution you made, but know we thank you too! May the blessings of the Advent season be showered on you & yours! Thanks again!!!! Your “Toys for York” need to be in the church office by December 5. See SHARE if you need details.
ABANDONED POTS: Two crockpots are pining for their owners in the main kitchen. Please take them home if they are yours. Thanks!

QUIET CORNER HOMESCHOOLERS will be using the kitchen and downstairs area on Monday, November 22 from 10am - 2pm for their annual Thanks and Giving Event. The homeschoolers will meet to package holiday baking mixes for TEEG, make seasonal crafts, and share in a potluck Thanksgiving style meal. Dear Church Family,
It's time to get ready for Gift Sunday, which is Dec. 12, just a few short weeks away. Here is how it works. For the next three Sundays, your CTC team will have the 90 Tags for Tots & Teens available after church in the Great Room. All you need to do is pick out the tag or tags that you want to be responsible for, find the number on the tag, & using that number find it on our sign up sheets. Once you have done this, sign your name on the line that matches your number. That is the easy part. The challenging part can be finding the gift that the child is requesting, but with hard work & help from our youth in the church, you can do it.
Bring your gifts in on Gift Sunday, Dec. 12. Remember to attach the tag to the bag the gift is in. You can include a gift bag, or Christmas paper and bows with your gift, but please do not wrap any of the gifts!
Thanks so much. Gift Sunday is always such a heartwarming event, so plan on being part of helping these families who have so little, to be able to give one gift to each of their children. Thank you for your generosity.
~Lynn & Tom Singleton

CHRISTMAS ON THE HILL, November 20!! ✴Do you have any dried flowers, wreaths or floral arrangement pieces that could be of use to the Flower Committee? Those crafty souls will be “creating” in the kitchen all day on Thursday, November 18, preparing beauties for the FLORAL TABLE at CHRISTMAS ON THE HILL. Lend a hand or call Cheryl Swenson, 923-9077 to tell her what you can donate to that table.
✴THE JEWELRY TABLE needs donations. Costume jewelry, bracelets, necklaces, pins, rings, buttons, whatever. You can leave them in the church office or call Sherill Cyr at 860-963-2228 to arrange pick-up. Thanks!
✴CHICKENS NEEDED!! The Luncheon Crew is looking for donations of chickens. Please leave them downstairs in the kitchen before Tuesday, please!
✴YOUR BAKE SHOP CHAIRS, Barbara Child (860-974-3648) and Sandy Walling (860-974-0470) are looking for lots of food items for their table. They need everything and will gratefully accept anything that you would like to contribute. If you can, please give one of them a quick call to let them know what item(s) you will be bringing in. Items should be here before 8:00 a.m. on the day of the fair, please. Cookies are also needed for the Cookies-by-the-Pound table! Thanks for your donations in advance. ✴Want more ways to volunteer to help? Call Susan Waldron, 923-2887, it’s not too late! SEE YOU AT THE FAIR!!!

UPDATE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE INQUIRED - Jacob the dog has found a foster home and is doing fine! A special thank you to the Cloutier family who have taken him in.

SANTA’S SITTING SERVICE returns on Saturday, December 11. Members of the Youth Group will provide childcare at the East Woodstock Church from 9 to 3 so parents can take care of holiday chores. Save the date and watch for details coming soon.

MY CUP RUNNETH OVER-- With fun and laughter, that is! All youth in grades 7-12 are invited to our youth group game night on November 14. We will meet at the Hill Church from 6 to 7:30 PM. We’re mixing up delicious smoothies and shakes and trying out not one, but TWO cool cup games. Bring a friend and test your agility and team work skills. Speak to Debby Kirk if you can bring a blender.

COVENANT TO CARE THANKSGIVING BASKETS: CTC has agreed to provide Thanksgiving food baskets to ten needy families living in North East Connecticut. A suggested menu is provided below and is also posted on the kiosk along with a sign-up sheet. The idea is to “sponsor” a complete basket or pair up with someone to share a complete basket. If you hate to grocery shop, gift cards from Walmart or Stop & Shop, or cash donations are more than acceptable. We will convert cash donations into gift cards. If you would like an official Hill Church receipt for your donation, please attach your name to the donation. Cash and gift cards (made out to FCCW with Thanksgiving baskets written in the memo section) can be left at the Church office in the middle drawer of Ellen’s desk. Food donations should be left in the kitchen on Sunday, Nov. 21, which is the day after Christmas on the Hill. Any surplus donations will be brought to Daily Bread in Putnam, or TEEG in Thompson. Thank you for your contribution, Covenant To Care Committee: Lynn & Tom Singleton, Phone 860-963-7229
