Announcements and Calendar for the Week of Mar. 6

THE TRANSITION TEAM IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE AN EVENT IN MARCH YOU WILL NOT WANT TO MISS:
Mark your calendars for our Church Heritage Event, "A Tale of Two Times: Then and Now," Sunday, March 27, from 4:30pm - 7:30pm. This is a very special all church gathering and potluck event. Bring your favorite recipe or choose one of the wonderful recipes from the personal collection of Ian Scott's wife Patricia which are sweetly symbolic of the historical nature of our program. Sign up in the Great Room during Coffee Hour any Sunday in March. After dinner, we will roll up our sleeves and delve into the history of our church. It will be a time of fun recollection and remembered challenges. Children are welcome at this event. They, too, will be led in a similar exercise and have an opportunity to tell their stories. Shared participation will provide the vital background needed as we create a time line of our church and gather information for our future search for our next pastor. We warmly invite all to attend. Rides will be made available; please call the church office to arrange transportation.

CHURCH SCHOOL – This morning we are wrapping up our “Burning Bush and Other Images of God” rotations. We would like to thank the following ladies for leading our youth through this unit: Joan Fortin, Jennifer John, Brittany LaFleur, Diane Peterson, and Maria Sangiolo. You are appreciated!
This Morning’s Rotations:
Pre-K – Joan Fortin – Art
K/1/2 – Jennifer John – Storytelling
3/4/5 – Brittany LaFleur - Games
6/7/8 - Maria Sangiolo - Cooking

Daily Bread – the church school is collecting Peanut Butter and Diapers (Step 1-6 daytime). Please leave your donations on the table in the Harrison Hall.

PRAYER CHAIN—Our prayers for one another have great power to heal and bring comfort. We have recently initiated an email group for members in the congregation who would like to participate. If you would like to receive the prayer requests and be part of this ministry of caring please sign up on the clipboard in the church office or contact Debby Kirk at ddkirk@snet.net. Prayer requests can be made to Rev. Mike Ader ader@iname.com or Debby Kirk by anyone who would like to be encircled by God’s peace.

YOUTH GROUP is wrapping up a 48 hour “Boston Urban Outreach” with service through the City Mission Society . Please keep our young people and their leaders in your prayers as they worship at the historic Old South Church this morning and travel home this afternoon. Our group will be sharing about our trip next Sunday.

“DIVE IN” TO SERVICE at the Special Olympics Swim Meet. All youth who have preregistered for this Giv2 event should plan to meet at East Woodstock Church at 7:15 am. We will carpool to Windham High School and meet other Giv2 volunteers there. Event organizers tell us it is warm in the pool area, so wear lightweight clothing. Lunch is provided but there is also snack food available for sale. Check your email for other instructions! We expect to return at about 4:30 PM.

WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP The regular monthly meeting of the Women’s Fellowship will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Our guest speaker will be Evie Wright, a CT State Trooper, talking about Personal Safety. This meeting will be of interest to men, too, so bring your spouse or a guest. Hostesses for the luncheon to follow are Linda Chase & Mary Seney with Ruth Stevenson offering worship.
